Almost 20 years ago, the Walker home in Yakima, Washington, was the scene of a horrific crime. Michael Walker, who was only eleven years old at the time, was the sole survivor in the massacre of his family. Now an adult, he is being taunted by someone who knows details of the crime.
A phantom scent seems to drift through Michael’s house at times, and this is eventually identified as a perfume that Michael’s mother used to wear. Is his mother trying to tell her that he is guilty? Or is there another cause, a more sinister one that is trying to drive him insane?
Private detective BriAnna Taylor is not sure if Michael is a victim, or if he is the perpetrator of the crimes. As she gets to know him more, she is becoming convinced that he is as innocent as he claims and works with him to try to solve this mystery.  In solving the current mystery, they may also solve the cold case murders of his parents and older brother, and the disappearance of his little sister.
As Bri and Michael explore their growing feelings for each other, they set their sights on trying to solve old and new occurrences, but will they escape unscathed? Or will they, too, fall victim to an evil neither can imagine?

A criminal is traveling with a carnival, committing crimes up and down the West Coast. Private investigators Michael Walker and Brianna Taylor return to Yakima, in eastern Washington, searching for clues in the murders of three western Washington teens that may be related to the carnival. They team up with Detective Andy Carlson when a teen disappears while attending the carnival. The last person know to have seen the girl was a psychic who travels with the carnival.
A polygraph clears Laurel Phillips of involvement in the girl’s disappearance, but when the teen’s body is found at a construction site Andy can’t help but wonder if she is an accomplice.
As the body count rises the murderer begins to stalk the carnival workers themselves. Digging deeper into the mystery puts the three friends’ lives in danger, and leaves them to wonder who will survive the mad man’s reign of terror.
